‘I am mine’: This is what Alzheimer’s is like at 41

Jo Aubin developed Alzheimer's Disease at the age of 38. At 41, he was unable to walk, feed himself, or speak more than a few words.
His wife Robin became his caretaker. Robin and Jo taught at the same high school and Robin continued to use Jo's teaching notes long after the disease forced him to retire.
After work, she would get Jo from the home where he spent his days and they would watch TV, read, eat, and go to bed.
Despite losing most of his cognitive abilities, Jo never lost his sense of humour and still managed to sneak the occasional, perfectly timed "bullshit!" into the conversations going on around him.
Jo passed away peacefully in November, 2018.
